Sock thief & soul healer
Her name is Bowie.
And she steals more than just laundry — she steals hearts. 🐾💙
Some mornings, the world feels a little heavier.
Like the light hasn't quite made it through the window yet, and everything inside me moves just a little slower.
But then… I feel a nip at my toes.
And suddenly — I'm laughing.
That's how she works.
Bowie.
My little Old English Sheepdog with a heart full of mischief and a mouth full of my socks.
She's a thief.
A wild-hearted, fluffy little bandit who hides my laundry all over the garden.
Every pair of socks I own has, at some point, lived a secret life beneath a bush or beside a flowerbed.
She has no shame — only joy.
We named her Bowie before we even met her.
The idea was that she'd have one blue eye and one brown — a perfect little tribute to the one and only David Bowie.
You probably see the connection.
He had those unforgettable eyes. One blue, and one… different.
But it wasn't actually two eye colors.
After an accident as a teenager, one of his pupils became permanently dilated — giving the illusion of mismatched eyes. A subtle defiance of symmetry.
That felt like magic to me. A beautiful flaw that turned into legend.
So when we imagined our puppy, it made perfect sense to name her after him.
A little soul with two-colored eyes, a rebel heart, and a wild sparkle.
But when we picked her up… she had two perfectly blue eyes.
Sky-blue.
Soft and clear and full of trouble.
And still — she was Bowie.
From the moment I saw her, I knew.
Because being Bowie was never about the eyes.
It was about spirit.
It was about that quiet, strange gift of showing up when joy feels out of reach.
Of pulling me out of myself and into play.
Of nipping at my heels just enough to make me smile again.
She doesn't need to understand when I'm low.
She just knows.
And she does what only dogs — and maybe a few rare humans — truly know how to do:
She reminds me of the lightness still hiding under the heaviness.
Of the beauty in being ridiculous.
Of the sacredness in a stolen sock.
